Claudio Vs. Quackenbush Results

Anarchy Championship Wrestling
The Venue
800 Lexington
Sunday, March 11, 2007

Anarchy Championship Wrestling returned to the Venue at 800 Lexington Sunday with a show featuring the stars of ACW, top national talent, and several others, many of whom had participated in a special seminar earlier that day led by Mike Quackenbush, head trainer of the Chikara and Combat Zone Wrestling Factory.
Before the show began, One Man Mike Dell made an appearance to inform the fans, that he still has not been cleared to wrestle following a severe head injury he had received prior to last month's show. Dell warned ACW champion Showtime Summers that he had that championship in his sights and would be coming for it soon.
The first match was a rematch from Saturday night in Giddings in which Spiro beat Bio-Hazard Jaykus Pliskem. Spiro has recently returned from a tour of Europe and has shown a renewed vigor and passion since his return. These are two of the strongest men in ACW, yet their styles displaced different approaches to the match. While Bio-Hazard showed a slow deliberate strategy, building to dominance, Spiro relied on sudden bursts of energy, overcoming any advantage Bio-Hazard had built. On this night, Bio-Hazard gained some measure of revenge, scoring a victory with his "Pray For Death" submission.

The next match was a six-man tag featuring a team of "The West Texas Wrecking Machine" Venom, "The American Nightmare" El Lotus & "Heatseeker" Tony Morales facing the team of "The Lonestar Kid" Ricky Rhodes, Bart "The Ace" McClintock and "No colorful nickname" Berry. The action was only barely getting started when the match was declared a no contest after 3 minutes as Scotty Riggs came to the ring and beat down all 6 competitors. Riggs then attacked Rachel Putski who had been sitting at the time-keeper's table. Showtime Summers came out and stopped the attack. One Man Mike Dell and Scotty Riggs called out "Mini-Showtime" who came to the ring in a dead-on impersonation of Summers. Mini-Showtime was beaten badly for his efforts, first by Summer, later by Riggs. Showtime announced that the championship match would be a "last man standing" match.

Next came a tag match featuring the Houston team of Double Trouble (Tony Vega & Chris James) who took on the Amarillo team of Phenomenon ("Showcase" Shance Williams & "The Natural" Mark Wilson.) This was an old-school tag match with the rule-breaking team Double Trouble taking advantage of several double team opportunities, keeping Wilson in the ring for the majority of the match. The match eventually ended when Chris James rolled up Shance Williams using an abundant handful of tights. Fans ringside were exposed to far more of Williams than anyone was expecting, yet the referee ignored the obvious signs and awarded the match to Double Trouble.

The first half of the Double Main Event was next as Lighting Mike Quackenbush faced the Swiss aristocrat Claudio Castagnoli. In recent months, these two internationally recognized stars have faced each other countless times in celebrated matches all over the country. Today's match was every bit as good, and the fans of Anarchy Championship Wrestling showed their familiarity and respect for the two by chanting and interacting with the wrestlers. This was an incredible match featuring a blend of humor and technical chain wrestling which ended when Castagnoli hit a variation of a belly to back suplex into a pin. Fans immediately began speculating on when either of these two would make their return to San Antonio.

Next, ACW fans were treated to a special treat as the Lucha Caliente Super Heavyweight title was defended by the aptly named Massive. Lucha Caliente is a promotion that runs primarily out of El Paso. Massive's challenge tonight came from the Xtreme Bulldawg Rexx Reed who normally is the largest man on any wrestling show, but was dwarfed by the champion. At first, the fans supported ACW regular Reed, but Massive's attitude combined with talent rarely seen by a man weighing close to 400 lbs slowly won the respect and cheers of the fans. When Massive power slammed Reed for the victory, the building seemed to shake. After the match, the two big men shook hands respectfully before the appreciative crowd.

The scheduled bare-foot thumbtack match between Enigma Skylar Skelley and Darin Childs never took place as Enigma had severely dislocated his shoulder the night before in Giddings. Darin Childs as well as Enigma's entourage of Starr and Chesty refused to allow him to wrestle. In frustration, Enigma announced that he quits. Fans were stunned at this and still await clarification.

Fans who were hoping for thumbtacks and blood didn't have to wait long as the next match started so suddenly that there wasn't even time to announce the introductions of Mitch Ryder and Jacob Ladder before the two combatants were locked in a violent battle. This hardcore deathmatch involved thumbtacks, staple guns, the ring bell, a pencil and a barbwire covered baseball bat. At one point, the match went up the stairs to the balcony. Fans down stairs had to rely on the reports of the sick violence shouted by fans from above. Eventually the two wrestlers made their way back down to the ring where Ryder pulled out a surprising victory over Jacob Ladder. Afterwards, a beaten and bloody Ladder grabbed the microphone and took the time to compliment Ryder on the match.

In the second half of the double main event, former WCW tag champion and ECW original Scotty Riggs came to the ring with Mike Dell to face the ACW Champion Showtime Summers. Before the match even got started however, referee Mike Knoxville sent Mike Dell back to the lockerroom, threatening to disqualify Riggs if Dell returned. This match was not going to be the technical clinic featured in the first half of the double main event. Riggs and Summers each have reputations, not only of toughness, but of craziness and Summers seemed to determined to show that no one was going to out-crazy him in the Venue. The referee exercised great leniency in allowing the action to spill out of the ring and then out of the building, knowing that The Anarchy Championship deserved to be decided conclusively. By the time the action returned to the ring, both men were a bloody mess. Riggs had been busted open by the ring bell and Summers on the ring post. Still these two men pounded on one another as the punishment and loss of blood began to take its toll. After one particularly intense flurry of action both men collapsed to the mat. Summers however fell with his arm across Riggs' chest covering his opponent. Knoxville counted the pin, but the fans chanted "Last Man Standing," reminding them of the stipulation announced earlier. The match restarted, but Riggs was unable to beat the 10 count and Summers won the match.
After the match, Summers attempted to show Riggs his respect for the match, offering the still prone opponent his hand. Riggs responded instead by flicking Summers off with his middle fingers. Rather than respond to this, Summers elected to leave the ring, leaving Riggs in a pool of blood. When Riggs found his feet and began working his way back to the lockerroom, he grabbed a microphone and left the fans with the following thought: "God Bless Texas, but FUCK all you Texans!"
The next ACW show will be Thursday March 22nd at Graham Central Station 4902 Fredericksburg Road. The show is called "Strictly Wrestling", meaning no crappy bands between matches. Bell Time is at 7 PM and already announced to appear Mitch Ryder vs. Showtime Summers, Jimmy Jacobs vs. Bio-Hazard, Hugh Rogue vs. Chuey Martinez and The Children of Pain vs. Kissyboots.
